Duality OCT NPC -- Emery Blythe

Name: Emery Blythe
Age: 37

History: Emery Blythe is Vic and Logan’s uncle, and the youngest son out of his generation of the noble Blythe family, born after his brothers Alistair and Norman. At 16 he left home after a conflict with his eldest brother due to a clash of ideals, taking only his gauntlet blades and his loyal Grotle, Iapetus, with him. Wasn’t the wisest of ideas, but he fared surprisingly well on his own.
It was after he went out into the world that he started noticing that his affinity for being able to tell people’s intentions wasn’t just an acquired skill. His aura abilities were something he learned to tolerate over time rather than completely control, but he took them as a blessing.
At 20, he runs into a young Etienne Mulberry, and rescues her from a huge Victribell who was attempting to have her for lunch. They travel together for five months before parting ways—he doesn’t realize her unrequited feelings for him until years later.
At 23, he meets Willow Moore through similarly unfortunate means—she had somehow gotten herself into a fight with a warrior that he knew she wouldn’t be able to get out of, and decided to step in. She decides to travel with him, and they soon become inseparable—they still travel together to this day, wandering anywhere and everywhere in Unova. They separate for a time when Will’s father dies, and again when Emery’s brother (and Vic and Logan’s father) Alistair passes, but they always seem to find each other again.
During one of his visits to Warrior’s Guild in Castelia (where he drops by every so often to train and visit an old friend), he rescues a young Sianall Auvray from a group of rowdy warriors, scaring her off in the process. She later approaches him to thank him, and he ends up taking her under his wing—she’s like a little sister to him now, and he still stops by to visit her whenever he has the chance.
Currently, he’s still traveling with Will, though he drops by Castelia every few months or so to visit Sianall, and Etienne, who he is currently in a relationship with.

Personality: Emery could most easily be categorized as a Good Samaritan. He is caring and all-inclusive, and always willing to lend a hand if needed. A very good-natured person, he’s usually always smiling and laughing and willing to hand out hugs as well as advice. He can seem a little oblivious at times, though he isn’t naïve in the slightest—he’s more well-versed in human nature than most, and can be very serious if the situation requires it.
Though he’s incredibly hard to push to the point of rage, he’s remarkably frightening when angry, and his size and strength make him a formidable opponent.

Extra: His aura powers give him the ability to sense if someone nearby is near death or in some kind of mortal peril. He tends to take action almost as soon as he senses something, rushing to the rescue if he feels their fate is unjust or unnecessary—for example, he would immediately rescue someone being attacked by a wild pokemon while out in the woods, but he would not stop a murderer from being put to death, as he feels their death would be just. His abilities also allow him to get very general “vibes” off people, and he tends to judge their intentions based on this rather than how they look.

Pokemon:
Iapetus/Torterra: Emery was given Iapetus as a Turtwig at the age of seven, around the same time his brothers received their own respective pokemon. He’s stayed by his side since then, and is completely and absolutely loyal to Emery. The Torterra is quiet but strong, grounding Emery’s personality rather well. Iapetus doesn’t talk, but Emery has had him long enough that he can understand him without speech.
Orion/Spearow: Emery found Orion trying to nest in the tree in Iapetus’ back, and the bird refused to leave. He’s gotten very fond of Emery since then, and decided to stay. He mostly ferries messages back and forth between Emery and others, and doesn’t really do much battling. Though he isn’t strong and mostly averse to fighting, he will viciously defend Emery in a flurry of wings and pecks.
Egg/???: Found hidden under the body a deceased Marowak. Suspecting the dead pokemon to be its mother, Emery took the egg and the mother’s skull to take care of until it hatches.
